Identity System for
a Modern Greek Restaurant
in Phuket, Thailand.

l. Context
A modern Greek restaurant located in the heart of Thailand, EMMA brings together two cultures through food, rhythm, and visual expression. With a focus on updated classics, the concept blends traditional Hellenic aesthetics with a fresh, tropical pace — creating a dining experience that feels both rooted and unexpected. From handmade meze and grilled seafood to an in-house wine collection and artisan pastries, every detail of the menu invites guests to slow down, share, and celebrate. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined — a space where myth, ritual, and contemporary energy coexist.

ll. Assignment
The task was to create a visual identity system that would reinterpret Greek heritage through a contemporary lens — balancing historical richness with a minimalist graphic language. The system had to feel timeless but current, crafted but unforced. It needed to translate across formats — from tableware and menus to packaging, print, and collectible brand materials — while leaving space for future extensions, including a wine line and potential sub-labels.

lll. Design Direction
At the heart of the identity lies a set of marks that feel unearthed rather than designed — symbols that echo ancient pottery, table rituals, and fragments of mythology. The logotype anchors the system with sharp clarity, while the surrounding elements move with more looseness and lyrical rhythm. Each illustration tells a quiet story: a gesture, a dish, a shared table, joy, a love of life. Together, they form a visual chorus — repeated across menus, ceramics, and printed matter with a kind of ceremonial precision. Rather than layering on aesthetics, the system strips back — allowing white space, typographic structure, and restrained color to carry meaning. It’s a language that knows when to speak and when to stay silent — letting the texture of culture, material, and occasion fill in the gaps.
